Thoughts 9/5/25

The Corn Moon is growing toward full outside.

Inside, I’m thinking about roots, flow, and transformation. I’ve been slowly, deliberately taking in the essay, "Atlas with Shifting Edges" by Elizabeth Rush, and gazing at the painting, "Roots" by Frieda Kahlo.  I don’t think I’ve ever engaged with art this way. I’m an impatient person. I have a busy mind, so slow-reading and open-eyed, relaxed gazing doesn’t come as easily to me as I’d like to admit. This is a new practice. There’s no hard goal; it just occurred to me that this combined ingestion might be good for my Soul. So here I am.

Reading.

Gazing.

Pondering.

Letting words and ideas mix and mingle inside of me and allowing whatever rises to rise.

Here’s what’s coming up for me in the digesting.

Resistance is futile. If we were separate, it might be different.

Resistance could be the way, then, but it is not

Now.

How can we resist what we are intimately rooted in, rooted to?

The Earth, Her restless shifting, shaking, burning is not something that we can bar the door against.

We cannot shut the door and pretend that it isn’t happening because we are part of it. We are the restless, shifting, shaking, burning Earth Flesh, and until we understand that we are rooted, connected, born of and to, and one with

Earth

We will not ride these changes gracefully. Wisely.

We will try to Resist,

Push away,

Disassociate from reality in whatever way works best for us.

We’ll pretend that if something IS happening then it is happening TO US.

Isn’t this what got us here? This idea of separation?

What a terrifying thought. That I could be an unraveling thread floating alone rather than an integral piece of a Beautiful Tapestry

I just opened a new subscription group called The Lunar Gathering. It’s one part short essay reading club, one part part art appreciation group, one part Creativity incubator, and one part Moon Circle. The group doesn’t officially begin until September 21st, but I opened the gateway early. Because I hate to leave folks floating with nothing to connect to, I offered the Early Birds a little lunar information, an essay to read, a piece of art to gaze at, and a little prompt. The idea behind the group is to encourage moving in moon time, ingesting art, and expressing creativity….in community. If this sounds intriguing, visit The Lunar Gathering to read more and sign up.
